    ATLANTIC TALENT & MODEL AGENCY

    Gloria Williams, Agent

A Brief History of Atlantic Talent Agency

In the late 1980’s, there were no talent agents in Atlantic Canada.  The film industry was just starting to catch on, when Janette Taylor, a Model/Actor from the US moved to Halifax. She wanted to continue her career and since their were not talent agents she represented herself. She formed a connection with a model agency and they became known as The Group Model & Talent Agency.

After two years the Group parted company and Jenette formed ASPECT Talent Agency.  ASPECT stood for Actors Specialized in Print Entertainment and Commercial Television, later to be changed to Atlantic Talent Agency.

    Nancy Hill, Owner/Agent

Jenette built ASPECT Talent Agency to 500 + actors and a youth division was formed with 150 + youth from ages 5 to 18.  Many remained with the agency until their adult years to further their acting careers in Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal.

In the early 1990’s Gloria M. Williams, with her musical and managerial skills worked for Mrs. Taylor as Girl Friday.  Instructors with acting backgrounds were hired to conduct weekend and 5 week classes.  Mrs. Taylor moved back to the US so Mrs. Williams purchased the agency and moved it to Barrington Street, Halifax, where she remained for 5 years.

The Film and Commercial Television industry started to grow rapidly.  As well many other forms of Public Relations were offered’ simulations, print, photo doubling, background work on industrials.  Due to Illness Mrs. Williams moved the agency to a home office where she operated for 4 years.

    Nancy & Gary Hill

In 2004 Gary Hill, businessman and retired educator and Nancy Hill bought the talent agency’s assets with a partner and changed the name to Atlantic Talent Agency.  After a few months the partner left the business so Gary Hill and Nancy Hill bought her out to be the sole owners.

Gary Hill restructured the business opening an office on the 20th floor at Purdy’s Wharf Tower II, in the prestigious business district on the Halifax waterfront. The following year they moved up to the Penthouse on the 22nd floor.  Gloria Williams returned to the company as Principal Talent Agent. On August 30, 2007 Gary and Nancy bought property on Shore Drive, Bedford, NS next to the Bedford Basin Yacht Club where they moved their office that overlooks the boats and the water. They continue to grow the business to be the most progressive talent agency in Atlantic Canada helping actors to a bright future.

In June 2008 Gary & Nancy were Co-Producers in Paul Kimball's feature film "Eternal Kiss", filmed in the new Yarmouth Film Studio. Gary went on to be a Producer and Nancy Production Manager of Samdy MacLean's short film "Just Desserts". In May 2009 Gary and Nancy became full partners with Paul Kimball's film & TV production company Redstar Films Ltd. Gary became Executive Producer and Nancy Co-Producer of Benjamin Stevens short film "New Blood". Gary & Nancy continue to run Atlantic Talent & Model Agency and work with Paul Kimball in Redstar Films Ltd.
